Panama Earthquake LIVE | A powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck southern Panama on October 9, 2026, shaking communities across the country and triggering evacuations, structural damage and a series of aftershocks. The earthquake was recorded by the US Geological Survey near Pitaloza Arriba, at a depth of approximately 12.6 kilometres. (USGS)
The strongest impacts have been reported in central provinces, including Herrera, Los Santos and Coclé. Buildings sustained damage, parts of historic structures collapsed, and a church in Penonomé suffered structural damage.
